Rental Housing Mediation Program
The City of Santa Barbara's The City of Santa Barbara through the Community Development Department Administration, Housing and Human Services Division operates the Rental Housing Mediation Program (RHMP). The RHMP was established in 1976 out of a "Grass Roots" effort to resolve Landlord/Tenant disputes by offering mediation services, and information on residential Landlord - Tenant Rights and responsibilities. The RHMP services are provided to residents within the city limits of the following jurisdictions only: City of Santa Barbara, City of Goleta and City of Carpinteria.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The Catholic Charities of Santa Barbara (CCSB) is the only organization operating countywide offering financial rental and utility assistance. Federal EFSP and HPRP funds are allocated countywide to provide rental and utility financial assistance to income-qualifying clients, specifically to prevent eviction or to assist a homeless family moving into housing.
